World View Stratollite fleet to provide high resolution imagery and data analytics in the Americas

March 5, 2020

World View, a stratospheric data and information services company, is preparing to deploy a fleet of Stratollites® called World View Orbits over North and Central America starting this summer.

The company has successfully conducted test and development flights to sharpen vehicle flight and navigation capabilities, and is now preparing to offer customers high-resolution imagery and associated analytics products from an integrated network of vehicles operating in the stratosphere.

World View will provide high-resolution imagery at 15cm ground sample distance (GSD) using precision instruments provided by the company's industry partners and suppliers. Imagery delivery to end-users will be through the company's secure data portal on the World View website. The company is also implementing a custom electro-optical (EO) sensor to provide higher resolution imagery at better than 5cm GSD.

The Stratollites can safely land and be refurbished, which allows for continuous upgrades and enhancements during operational services delivery. The fleet will begin launching in the summer timeframe, and initial operational capability will follow thereafter, with a build-up to full fleet operations expected in the first half of 2021.
