The Chainsmokers to Become First Musical Artist to Perform at the Edge of Space

July 20, 2022

World View, a stratospheric exploration and space tourism company, has partnered with electronic dance music duo The Chainsmokers to perform the first musical act at the edge of space. The performance will be recorded inside a World View capsule and will be used to create future music projects. The Chainsmokers will be among the first people to experience the stratospheric journey, with commercial space tourism flights set to launch in 2024. Flights cost $50,000, with an initial deposit of $500.

The balloon and pressurized space capsule will lift eight World View Explorers and two crew members to an altitude of 100,000 feet, nearly 23 miles into the stratosphere, for a transformative experience lasting six to eight hours. World View plans to launch its flights from the Seven Wonders of the World, including the Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef, Serengeti, Aurora Borealis, Amazonia, Pyramids of Giza and Great Wall of China.

World View CEO Ryan Hartman stated that the company aims to make space tourism more accessible to all people, including artists, who are expected to tell powerful stories after experiencing the wonder of Earth and space.
