Explore the Edge of Space in New Space Travel Option
The World View space capsule was showcased on NBC's Today Show as a more affordable way for people to experience space travel. The balloon and capsule will carry passengers to an altitude of approximately 100,000 feet, where they will experience about six hours of flight time, including about two hours at the highest altitude.
The capsule is designed to accommodate eight passengers and two crew members, and features a luxurious, climate-controlled interior with ergonomic seating, large windows for panoramic views of the Earth, and an onboard telescope. Passengers will also have access to gourmet dining options and top-shelf libations throughout their flight, and the capsule will be equipped with streaming and mobile communication capabilities to stay in touch with loved ones back on Earth.
The World View space capsule will be lifted into the stratosphere by a large, zero-pressure balloon filled with helium. The balloon and capsule are connected by a tether and controlled by a ground crew, allowing for a smooth and stable ascent and descent. The balloon can be deployed from various launch sites around the world, including the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef.
World View CEO Ryan Hartman believes that the space capsule will be a more affordable alternative to traditional rocket launches, making space travel accessible to a wider range of people. He also sees the capsule as a unique way to explore and learn about our planet, with passengers gaining a new perspective on Earth's fragility and the importance of sustainability.
