Another Company is Offering Edge-of-Space Balloon Trips, but at Just $50,000

October 4, 2021

Stratospheric ballooning company, World View, is now offering reservations for five-day balloon voyages that will take travelers 100,000 feet above some of the world's most famous landmarks, including the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, the Serengeti, and the Giza Pyramids. The flights will begin in early 2024 and cost $50,000 per seat. The company claims that the World View space tourism experience is the most affordable, longest duration, and most accessible space experience on Earth. World View plans to establish its first spaceport in the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, followed by Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The company is also eyeing Dubai and the Serengeti as future destinations. World View's balloons will be launched by helium and will float at high altitude, offering a steady and stable platform that would allow passengers to observe the Earth's curvature and the blackness of space. The balloons will remain at high altitude for about five hours before descending and landing on a designated site.
